Something magical happens when trained Project Sunshine volunteers step inside the pediatric environment.
Cold hospital halls come alive with arts and crafts, music, and laughter. Discussions of symptoms and procedures are replaced with sports updates, children's books, and cooking lessons. Stressed and withdrawn children tackle missed schoolwork with confidence and support from dedicated tutors. Anxious and exhausted caregivers enjoy quiet moments of relaxation and rejuvenation.
We call this very special magic "sunshine," and we currently bring it to over 100,000 young patients and families every year. But there is much more to do. No child or family should have to face a serious illness or hospitalization alone. Please help us spread sunshine today.
